As a proud Jayco ambassador, I’m so stoked that this year we’re mixing our cherished Christmas traditions with a new adventure – celebrating Christmas in our van! The kids have already written their special letters to Santa (well, Alfie has), making sure he knows exactly where to find us on Christmas Eve. It was really cute to see his little face light up as he carefully explained our location to the big man in red. Alfie’s only 6 and his spelling is still a work in progress so really hoping Santa can decode it!

We’re big on traditions with our kids and love celebrating anything and everything! Some of our Christmas traditions remain unchanged this year, like our Christmas morning ritual of heading to the beach with cups of coffee in hand. There’s something really magical about watching the sunrise over the ocean whilst the kids buzz with excitement about their presents. This year, we created a new tradition by cutting down our very own Christmas tree – a first for our family that we’re absolutely loving having in a pot outside the van.

One of our favourite traditions each year is what we like to call ‘linner’ – dessert for dinner on Christmas Day! The kids absolutely love this one because it means more sweets and I love it because it means one less meal to cook, so we’re definitely keeping this tradition alive in the van. Think pavlova, trifle and rum balls for dinner, so good!

We’ve always kept Christmas Day really relaxed and open, avoiding the stress of rushing between gatherings. Our Christmas day rule is pretty simple: our door (or in this case, our van door) is open to anyone who wants to join us. I’d say ‘bring a plate’ but the reality is no one ever needs too in our house haha!

Here’s to making new memories in a new spot whilst keeping our special traditions alive – in a much cozier space, our Jayco!
